- joint cross-border mobility in the Eurotown Guben-Gubin -
Financing (EFRR): 520.200,00 EUR
Project duration: 01.01.2019 - 31.12.2021
Total cost: 615.000 €, from that 520.200 € EFRR funds.
Goal of the project:
The main goal of the project is to create a basis for improvement of the cross-border, environmentally friendly mobility in Guben and Gubin. Owing to the project effects the cross border mobility offer will be improved throughout the whole support area. Presently in Guben and Guben there operate two independent systems of public transport. The project is intended to verify both systems, contact points and similarities as well as to analyse the binding European and national framework legal terms and finally to integrate the both systems. This will constitute a basis for elaborating a mutual, uniform offer of public transport that will be beneficial to both halves of the Eurotown. Connecting the public and railway transport into a single joint system will contribute to development of the cross-border multimodal offer. The project also provides for analysing the cross-border bicycle traffic. The effect of future unification of the system will be strengthening the ecological public transport in the towns which will have a positive effect on the passenger number increase in the cross-border public group transport in the Eurotown Guben-Gubin as well as in the whole support area.
Examples of activities performed as part of the project:
- Modernization of 4 bus stops in Gubin and adapting them to the future public group transport offer,
- Adding and adapting one bus stop in Karl-Marx-Straße in Guben,
- In order to learn about examples of „best-practice“, several study visits to communes/regions in which similar solutions have been applied will be organized during the project,
- Polish-German publications on the project implementation progress will be issued . A bilingual publication presenting the most important results of the project is also planned to be issued,
- As part of the above activities particular cross-border concepts and a joint strategy for public transport development will be elaborated.
